What is your day job:

Client Success Specialist, The Insurance Center

I am also an Adjunct Instructor in the Business Department at Minnesota State College Southeast teaching an online class in the Spring.

How did you start working in HR:

I attended Western Technical College and then went on years later to get my BA in Organizational Management from Viterbo. HR and Business Operations has always been an area of interest. I have held various positions including Operations Manager, Corporate Benefits Support Leader, HR Business Partner, Adjunct Instructor and Corporate Recruiter. Each position allowed me to grow my knowledge and wear different hats – I love the variety of getting to know various parts of the business operations.

What advice would give to someone pursing a career in HR:

Never stop learning and be ready for changes! This is a career that continually evolves and there are so many different paths you can take with an HR Career - talent management, compensation and benefits, compliance, safety, and training!

What is your favorite thing about LASHRM:

I enjoy the networking, attending events, and the endless resources and learning opportunities.

Passion outside of work:

I have 3 grown children and enjoy spending time with them. My son is currently working to take over the family farm and my daughters are both in healthcare and live in Florida. I like to spend as much time in the winter visiting them! I also have a partner that enjoys traveling so him and I take as many trips as possible by plane, car and motorcycle. I am going to be grandma for the first time in January so, that will be a new role I am excited to discover!
