Building an Effective Sustainability Team
ft. Casey Meehan, Ph.D.

Join us for August's meeting where we will:

  • Discuss the environmental & social trends that underscore why establishing a sustainability team is important for any organization
  • Use the United Global Goals to reframe perceptions of what sustainability work includes
  • Reflect on how to establish an effective sustainability team

Having an active sustainability team is no longer a "nice to have", it's a "need to have". This program helps participants understand why having that team is important to your organization, your employees & the community.

About the Speaker:

Casey’s professional path merges two passions: education and sustainability work. A former high school teacher, college professor, and education researcher, Casey currently serves as the Sustainability Coordinator at Western Technical College, a two-year public college in La Crosse, Wisconsin, recognized nationally for its commitment to sustainability.

As the chief sustainability officer, he works with stakeholders across the college and community to embed sustainability into the culture of the school. In this role, he also helps lead the efforts of the Sustainability Institute, a 501c3 housed at Western that works directly with local businesses, organizations, and government to forward their sustainability practices.

Casey regularly presents at local and national conferences and gatherings. His research on climate change education has appeared in Science Education and is reported on in various media outlets. He actively blogs about sustainability at caseyRmeehan.com.

Casey has a bachelor’s degree in History and Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master’s in Education from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, and a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on climate change education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is certified as a Sustainability Associate by the International Society of Sustainability Professionals.

He currently lives with his wife, two young boys and dog in La Crosse, WI.
