Requesting ADA Information
ft. Tracie DeFreitas, MS

Meeting login information will be sent out the day prior. Be sure to register here so you receive that email.

During this meeting, Tracie will help us:

  • Build our ADA competence by becoming knowledgeable about disability-related inquiry rules
  • Learn practical strategies for obtaining and interpreting disability-related information as part of the interactive accommodation process under the ADA
  • Take away tangible resources that will help ADA decision makers enhance their organization's reasonable accommodation procedures.

Do you receive the information you need from health care providers, and others, in support of the ADA interactive accommodation process? Employers may seek reasonable documentation after receiving a request for accommodation, but there are no standard ADA forms, and there is no required procedure for gathering this information. This can lead to a “bring me a rock” kind of game when ADA decision makers aren’t exactly sure what information is needed to effectively engage in the interactive process. Employers need practical guidance and resources for collecting disability-related information from appropriate professionals in order to accommodate employees with disabilities. This JAN training will offer practical strategies and resources to effectively obtain disability-related information for ADA purposes.
