What is your day job:

Lead Accountant at River Bank

How did you start working as a people manager:

I attended WTC and then went to Viterbo to get my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and MBA. I started in the accounting field about 7 years ago at a local community bank. From there, I have continued to grow and learn. I started leading an accounting team about a year ago where I was giving the opportunity to expand my responsibilities and have the ability to cultivate and help my team grow. I am never bored as I am constantly learning new ways to help my team become the best they can

What advice would give to someone pursing a career in management:

When becoming a team leader you will make mistakes, but it is important to make sure to learn and grow from those mistakes. Every team you manage will be different, so it is essential to learn about your team in depth and really get to know them as people. Always be willing to share your knowledge and help your team continue to grow. It is not about delegating duties, it is about helping your team develop and thrive. 

What is your favorite thing about LASHRM:

LASHRM offers so many events to help leaders gain valuable knowledge about the important topics discussed that effect not only themselves, but also everyone around them. It is a great way to continue developing the endless skills and insights needed to continue improving organizations.

Passion outside of work:

Outside of work, I like to hike, bike, play volleyball, snowboard, read, and spend time with my kitties, Oreo and Fudge.

What is at the top of your bucket list:

One item that is on my bucket list is to go out west in the U.S. to backpack and explore the national parks.
